NEW DELHI: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday summoned the local chief executive officer of international taxi-booking service Uber over the alleged rape of a 27-year-old woman by one of its drivers on Friday.
“I have called the local CEO of the cab company today. We will try our best that this cab company is closed. Also, it needs to be investigated who brought this company to India and how it started,” DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla said. The Delhi government had on Monday banned Uber from functioning in the national capital even as the company issued a statement assuring its full co-operation to help the victim and her family in their recovery.
