After unabashedly posting a couple of racist comments against Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Singapore-based Devina Dediva was fired from her job as an assistant teacher from a school supervised by Filipinos.

Dediva allegedly claimed to be a lab analyst which was deemed false by her now former employer. Some sources also previously reported that she was currently studying at Manchester University in Indiana, USA.

The university however immediately repudiated that there are no records of Dediva as being one of their students. They also said that such insensitive action of any student would never be tolerated.

In their statement, they said that, “Manchester University stands as a place of differences where the community engages in respectful dialogue cultivating individual beliefs and values. In our accepting community, the racist comments made by this individual would not be tolerated as respectful.”

According to sources, Dediva was also “afraid to go out in the streets” after the incident.

Her infamous statement about Filipinos not worthy of winning since “They are less privileged everywhere and uneducated” and “maids who cleaned our toilets”gained massive online outrage from Filipinos, and other nationalities.

The string of derogatory comments started when she reacted on Young being crowned as this year’s Miss World, the first Filipina candidate to win the title. “Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them.”

A facebook profile page dedicated to “Filipinos that faced racial criticism” was created in response to her so-called post. In just a few hours, the page drew thousands of ‘likes’.

Former beauty queens also retorted quickly. “I read her Facebook page… [Perhaps] she did that because she knew that Filipinos supported each other and … maybe thought she’d gain followers and/or haters by attacking Megan. We should just dismiss her and not give her the fame that she craves,” Miss International 2005, Precious Lara Quigaman said.
