New York – Sandra Fluke, President Barack Obama, Malala Yousafzai and Curiosity rover have all been listed on TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year” nominations for 2012. Voting will close on Dec. 12 and the winner will be announced Dec. 14.
Who should be TIME’s “Person of the Year” in 2012? Is it the invasion of PSY? What about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for his horrific acts and domination of the 24-hour news cycle? Surely jumping from the edge of space like Felix Baumgartner does deserve some accolades.
Previous winners have included Charles Lindbergh, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, Martin Luther King, Jr., the Apollo 8 astronauts, the computer, The Endangered Earth, Newt Gingrich and The Protester
Thirty-eight names (and entities) have been listed this year and range from the world of politics to science to entertainment to business.
Leading the list is Egyptian President Mohamed Morsey with 160,775 saying “definitely” and 135,454 voting “No Way.” Second is North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and third is Malala Yousafazai, the 15-year-old girl who is an education and women’s rights activist.
