For the child who has everything, it could be the ultimate toilet training accessory.
With recent figures showing a huge rise in the number of toddlers being given iPads and other expensive gadgets, the iPotty – a potty with a built in iPad holder, might not be as daft as it first seems.
The firm behind it claims the gadget, revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, can help children feel more comfortable by allowing them to watch videos or play games while answering the call of nature.
‘When the Apple marketing bods said using the iPad was like child’s play, I don’t think they had this in mind,’ said Stuart Miles of gadget website Pocket Lint.
IPotty will go on sale this spring, first on Amazon.com.
although it will not come with special apps, there are potty training apps available that reward toddlers..
The company is also examining whether the potty’s attachment can be adapted for other types of tablets, beyond the iPad.
‘It’s novel to a lot of people but we’ve gotten great feedback from parents who think it’d be great for training,’ said CTA product specialist Camilo Gallardo.
