KABUL: President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday attended a spring poetry event organized by ZalmaiHewadmal, cultural advisor to the president here at the Presidential Palace.
President Karzai said that poems could be used as an effective tool in presenting the true picture of Afghanistan to the world. The president urged Afghan poets to paint true image of Afghanistan in their poems.
During the event, Peer Muhammad Karwan, Abdul GhaniHashemi, Haroon Hakimi, Muhammad ZamanKelmani, ForozanKhalilyar, BazmuhamadNayel, Shafeqa Khpalwak, Qamar Jan Reshchi, Abdul QadirZaranji, Muhammad Nawaz Haqiqat, Sayed Shah Saqeem, Shafeqa Basharat, NargesSarwari, Muhammad Amin MatinAndkhoi and Qambar Ali Tabesh recited their poems. The poets stressed on national harmony in their poems.
President Karzai hailed the poets and said that Afghanistan had very talented poets, mostly young.
The president also gave cash awards to Peer Muhammad Karwan, Qambar Ali Tabesh and Matin Andkhoi.
