President Abdullah Gül, an active user of social media sites, has announced that he is now joining Facebook’s massively popular Instagram photo sharing service.
“I want to announce some news to you on the first day of 2013. After YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and Twitter, I have started using Instagram,” Gül tweeted on Tuesday.
Instagram, which allows people to add filters and effects to photos and share them easily over the Internet, was acquired by Facebook earlier this year for $715 million.
Gül said he has already shared his 10 most memorable photos of 2012 on Instagram. His Instagram user name is “cbabdullahgul.”
Instagram, which boasts 100 million users, allows consumers to tweak the photos they take on their smartphones and share them with friends.
Gül’s first Instagram photos included mostly winter scenes from the Çankaya presidential palace. He also shared photos of him greeting a crowd in Ad?yaman and watching a military drill in Kars.
