Speaking at the International Family and Social Politics Summit in Ankara on Wednesday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an repeated his well-known advice that having one or two children per family means bankruptcy while having three means breaking even for the state in the long term.

Erdo?an said the West is having trouble as its fertility rate is steadily going down and Turkey has to achieve a ratio of three children per family to avoid facing the problems that the Western world faces.

Later in his speech, prime minister spoke about the importance of family and the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) vision of family. “When we started our journey in politics, we announced that we are conservative democrats and we put the family at the center of our goals. We’ve been working effectively to strengthen family ties in our community. If we really want to be a strong nation, we need to have strong families,” Erdo?an said.
