One Direction, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adele and Justin Bieber are among the acts to have claimed places in the new Guinness World Records book.
Former X Factor contestants One Direction booked their spot by becoming the first UK group to debut at number one on the US charts with their debut album.
The feat meant Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson smashed the record for highest entry to the US album chart by a British group, which had been held by the Spice Girls since 1997.
One Direction said: ‘Being the first British band to debut at number one in America with a debut album is something that we would have never even have dreamt of.
‘We are incredibly proud to have this achievement included in the Guinness World Records book.’
Rihanna smashed Black Eyed Peas’ record for best-selling digital act in the US after seeing her total downloads reach 47.57million tracks.
Lady Gaga’s Born This Way made it into the book after becoming the fastest-selling digital album in the US, with 1.1million copies shifted in the first week of release.
Adele set the Guinness Record for biggest-selling digital track in a calendar year, thanks to Rolling In The Deep being downloaded 5.81million times.
Bieber’s place in the book comes courtesy of him becoming the first ever solo artist to have three number one albums in both the US and UK before the age of 18.
There is also a mention for Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who became the youngest chart artist when the sound of her crying at two days old featured on Glory.
