If the Pakistan government were one being, its look alike would be Shahid Khan Afridi.
Take a moment and think. Aren’t the two truly so alike?
The Pakistan government when it disappoints does it so bad that it hits the heart like a heart attack, the same is with Lala. The sight of him swinging his bat wildly in the air with the ball coming in a different direction and his head turning to a different one, is a paint to watch. Similarly our government invites its way a bunch of curses when the taxes and prices of food, water, fuel and electricity are increased.
The PCB being an institution of the government also comes into this comparison. The chief of the board seems to be fated to be no one. The game of musical chairs is being played for a few years now and the end seems quite far ahead. The board is a confused personality, just like our great Pathan who keeps switching roles. When he has an off day with the ball he says that he simply isn’t a bowler and the same happens when he has an off day with the bat. The sooner the board and Lala get their confusion sorted, the better for the game and people.
A very prominent feature of their similarity is that the needless bickering is always there. Leave it to our ministers to come harsh with all daggers out, talking about some politician and how he’s just all talk and no walk. Lala too does the same. Of all the press conferences he ever does, the ones done at airports get the most attention because they’re always so fiery and emotional. If Lala happens to be in a good mood he may even remind you of the old days of Heckle and Jeckle and Mr. Bean.
For now, I can think of only these but a thought on this would be helpful. As charismatic and jumpy Lala can be, our government does all it can to compete. It’s hard to tell of the winner but for now it seems that for just a while more, it’s a tie.
