The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the concerned authorities to impose ban on smoking in public places and also ordered strict action against Shisha cafes in the city.
Chief Justice of LHC Umer Ata Bandyal was hearing a petition regarding the implementation of anti-smoking law and ordered to ensure the implementation of the ban on smoking in public places.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore, Noorul Amin submitted a written reply in the court and stated that besides one’s house, every other place falls under the definition of public place. Smoking is banned in the public places while the Shisha cafes in the city are consuming drugs in the name of Shisha.
Therefore, the court directed the DCO to take action against all such cafes in the city and to implement the anti-smoking law.
