Karzai sacks head, 3 members of AAL

KABUL (AIP): President Hamid Karzai had sacked director of Afghanistan Academy of Letters (AAL) and three other officials for publishing a controversial book.
A statement issued by office of the Afghan president late Tuesday said the decision was taken after a meeting held in the Presidential place. It said the meeting headed by President Hamid Karzai discussed the publication of the controversial book “Atlas Ethnography of Afghanistan’s Tribes” in which the Hazara Tribe has been shown disrespect.
The president sacked head of the Academy of Letters, Abdul Bari Rashed, and three other officials including Muhammad Amin Mujahid, Abdul Hakim Safi and Nasrullah  Sobman under article 64, sub article 13 of the constitution of Afghanistan.
It said the judicial council meeting also directed the attorney general office to bring the people, who published the book and desecrated the Hazara community, to justice.
The statement quoting President Hamid Karzai said the book published in the name of research has disrespected all the ethnicities and Afghan nation.
