Indian Maharashtra’s deputy chief ministerAjit Pawar resigned on Tuesday amid allegations of Rs 72,000 crore irrigation scam.

Ajit Pawar said he has sent his resignation to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, but will continue as leader of the NCP legislature party.

“I will now serve the party,”Ajit Pawar said.

Ajit Pawar claimed innocence and said that a CBI probe will find out the truth.

Ajit Pawar said there is no threat to Maharashtra government and it is stable.
