TO gain an edge in the job market, prospective employees are making right spectacles of themselves by wearing fake glasses in interviews.
Thick, black spectacles with non-prescription lenses are the latest must-have accessory for job-seekers and trendsetters.
“Feedback from stores about why people want to wear glasses is that they’re trying to look smarter,” Luxottica (OPSM) luxury optical buyer Joanne Pereira said.
“They want to wear them to school, to job interviews
it’s the latest fashion trend. It’s definitely the impression that they are more likely to get a job if they look more studious.”
Specsavers recorded almost 10,000 non-prescription frames sold in the past year.
Hepzibah Cook, 26, said wearing faux reading glasses gave her face more structure and boosted her confidence.
