DUBAI // An Emirates employee who left love letters on a nurse’s car window has been fined Dh2,000 by the Misdemeanours Court. Prosecutors said that the letters written by MA, a 26-year-old Pakistani, were a form of harassment, and that they publicly embarrassed SS, a 26-year-old Iranian.
The notes would be stuck on her car window after she parked near the Iranian Hospital where she works. After once such occasion, on September 6, the nurse reported the matter to police and the Emirates employee was arrested the following week.
She told prosecutors that he had left a number of notes over a long period of time, but that she hadn’t reported him before because he promised that he would stop.
When prosecutors interrogated the man, he said he wrote “I love you and want to marry you” in the letter and left his phone number underneath.
He said he had known the woman for the past year and a half and had loved her throughout. However, he realised that she did not feel the same way towards him.
But the woman denied being aware of the man before he began pestering her. She said that when she lived in Satwa he left her a letter on her doorstep. Three days later he came to her work for four days in a row and stalked her. She said she told hospital security guards who once caught him writing his phone number on her car window.
The man did not appear in court.
