With the outbreak or corona virus, there is uncertainty all around the world. Uncertainty is a bed for anxiety. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be devastating and can cause strong emotions in adults and children. These days anxiety is prevalent.

Reasons for Anxiety During Pandemic

  • Fear and worry for their own health and the health of the people around them.
  • Loss of jobs.
  • Fear of being away from the loved ones
  • Changes in sleep or eating patterns.
  • Insomnia.
  • Worsening of chronic health problems.
  • Not being able to go out.

There are many other reasons that are making people prone to anxiety.  It is a known fact that everyone reacts differently to stressful situations. How people are responding to the corona outbreak can depend on age and the community they live in. Older people and people with chronic diseases who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are more prone to anxiety. People who are already suffering from mental health issues or health care workers become more anxious.

5 Simple Tips to Cope with Anxiety During Pandemic:

  • Take proper breakfast

With our daily routines going up and down, it is even more important than ever to stick to our diets. Nutritionists say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for people working from home. Instead of taking heavy, hard to digest foods along with your morning dose of caffeine, take a bowl of cereal, oats or even a smoothie bowl. It will fill you up and also give you the right dose of vitamin and protein to get you through the day.

  • Make a daily plan

If you are not a well-organized person or you don’t like to plan your week or your day, this is the right time to do so. Take out your diary and note down everything you need to do through the day. This will also give you a sense of direction and make you feel less overwhelmed through your work-from-home day.

  • Connect with people

We never get time for our friends and our family because of our busy daily routines. Grab this opportunity to make a connection with your family or long lost friends. Spend time with your family. You can watch a movie or a TV show together. You can also do gardening or walk together. Connect to your friends through video calls or social media.

  • Stay away from news

Step away from media if you start feeling overwhelmed. If anxiety is an ongoing issue, consider limiting your media consumption to a specific time period may be thirty minutes a day. You can also ask someone reliable to share important updates. The most important point is to seek authentic and trustworthy sources.

  • Learn to give yourself a massage

You could really use a massage to help you relax. Wait a minute! Social distance is keeping you at a distance from other human beings. Don’t worry! Learn to massage yourself. Practice regularly to build your skills and you might be able to relieve your tension. Give a soft massage to your feet, lower back, hands and legs to relieve your stress.

If you are facing severe anxiety, you must consult a mental health expert.
