Today’s world relies on the truck. Whether it is shipping packages across the United States or driving the boat to the lake, trucks and their power are constantly needed. The trucking industry is an old industry that is slowly being taken over by technology. As the evolution of technology comes of age, amazing advances of many kinds will take over the commercial and private mid sized and full sized trucking world. Mid size truck is a popular car right now. Becoming ever more popular even with city drivers because of their convenience, strength and improved efficiency. Among the newest technology for trucks is driver less vehicles, dash cams and four cylinder engines.
Driver less vehicles
Driver less vehicles also known as autonomous vehicles are taking over the commercial vehicle industry. They assist in reducing injury and accident because they are driven by a machine rather than risking human error. They are also more efficient because they never get tired and never need a break. Lastly, trucking is a job that most people don’t want. However, this new technology reduces jobs and economy. With less truckers on the road, there will be less need for restaurants and hotels along the way. Don’t think this technology is bound to just commercial drivers. This technology is soon to take over package delivery, taxis and even coming to private purchasers for personal use!
This is the day and age when people steal packages off their neighbors porch and no one’s word is trusted unless it is backed up with video. This goes for vehicles as well. Dash cams are handy devices that literally attach to your windshield and video everything going on around cars. They are especially handy in trucks where people often automatically assume that the bigger vehicle is at fault. Dash cams are also very handy for private use because often in the case of care accidents, insurance companies and court systems have to utilize the word of the drivers and witnesses. If a dash cam is involved, there is no question on what happened and who is at fault. Dash cams are often used in public service such as police officers, to defend their actions in cases where it is one man’s word against another.
The Four Cylinder Engine
Typically, mid size truck run on six or eight cylinders because the purpose of trucks is to be strong and pull heavy things such as campers and boats. However, today’s technology is making having the efficiency of two to four cylinders be available with the strength of six or eight cylinders. Four cylinder engines are much more efficient and easier handling. Most often come with a start stop system and cylinder deactivation. This allows the truck to run on just two cylinders when unloaded. Making the systems even more fuel efficient!
Today’s mid size trucks and commercial semi’s are an ever changing system of technology. The world is evolving and hoping to become more efficient and more advanced. In order to keep up with Europe and the rest of the world, we must evolve as well. Along with the positives of every technological change come negatives and it is a piece of the world we will just have to deal with! In this ever changing coming of age of technology in trucks Americans will just have to hang on and keep up!
