Afghan cricket team leaves for Australia to prepare for 2015 world cup

The Afghanistan national cricket team left for Australia on Sunday to participate in preparatory matches for the 2015 ICC cricket world cup.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chairman Shahzada Masood said he expects that the Afghan team will take more advantage from the one month tour of Australia to prepare for the upcoming world cup matches.

ACB chief executive Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad also urged the Afghan team to use the opportunity for better preparation for the 2015 world cup.

The newly appointed Afghan cricket coach Andy Moles also insisted that the Afghan team should have a courageous performance in the world and have better preparation for the matches.

Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi Esa Khel welcomed the efforts by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to provide such training opportunities which would help the team to have better preparation for the world cup.

Afghanistan will make its maiden appearance at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, which will be held between 14 February and 29 March.

Afghanistan is among the four teams which qualified for the ICC Cricket World 2015. Other teams include Ireland, Scotland and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Afghan team will travel to Australia and New Zealand along with the other qualifying teams, in a bid to prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
