Webber fastest in first Malaysian Grand Prix practice

Mark Webber of Red Bull posted the fastest time on Friday in the first practice session for the weekend Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Australian drove the quickest lap on the Sepang circuit in 1 minute, 36.935 seconds, beating Lotus driver Kimi Raikonnen in second place by 0.068 seconds and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, a Red Bull teammate, by 0.169 seconds.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, followed by Nico Rosberg of Lotus.

Force India’s Adrian Sutil was sixth, Felippe Massa of Ferrari seventh and Britain’s Paul Di Resta in a Williams came in eighth.

Lewis Hamilton was ninth in his new Mercedes.
