The Mockingjay has landed — or at least, the new trailer has. Here, in all its glory, is the clip for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, which premiered online today. While it isn’t much longer than the previous teaser, it gives viewers a much more personal, Katniss-eye view of the rebellion in Panem. In the third installment of the Hunger Games franchise, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is enlisted to lead the rebellion of the proletarian Districts against the Capitol. Her first priority, however, is to rescue Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), who has been kidnapped by the fascist government and forced to be a mouthpiece for President Snow (Donald Sutherland). This new trailer offers glimpses of Peeta in the Capitol, Katniss on the front lines of battle, and even Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), stripped of her over-the-top couture for the sake of the rebellion. Showing that the love triangle is still in play, the trailer ends with a terrific shot of Katniss and her longtime compatriot Gale (Liam Hemsworth), shooting at planes side-by-side — though viewers will note that it is Katniss’s arrow that takes down the enemy.

Mockingjay — Part 1 opens in theaters on Nov. 21, but Lionsgate has been promoting its release all summer with an inventive ad campaign. It started normally enough, with the studio releasing promotional stills of Julianne Moore (Alma Coin) and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch Heavensbee) in May. Then in June, the studio unveiled a set of ominous posters, ostensibly issued by the the Capitol’s propaganda machine, which praised the exploited workers of the Districts (including a six-year-old coal miner) for their hard work and obedience. These were followed by video addresses from President Snow, who boasted of Panem’s unity and made thinly veiled threats against the rebels. (The second of these broadcasts was “hacked” by Jeffrey Wright’s tech-savvy character Beetee). An official teaser trailer premiered at Comic-Con, then online at the end of July, followed by a new series of posters showcasing the real heroes: the rebellion leaders of District 13. Throughout the months of publicity, the studio has kept images and footage of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson mostly scarce — which is why this latest trailer offers some definite thrills.
