In what made for astonishing viewing, Australia’s hopes of staying alive in the 2015 Ashes were dealt a massive blow when they were bowled out for a paltry 60 all out in 18.3 overs on the first morning of the fourth Test match at Trent Bridge. The beleaguered Australia captain Michael Clarke could not have envisioned when his opposite number Alastair Cook inserted the tourists that his team would be all out inside the first session, but that is what happened – and in stunning manner as Stuart Broad led the carnage with 8/15 in 9.3 overs.

When they slipped to 33 for 7, Australia were in danger of collapsing to their lowest total ever in Tests (36), but in the end they didn’t get much farther ahead.
