Abu Dhabi: A scale model of what is being claimed to be the most expensive and precious car in the world is being shown in Dubai.
The 1/8 model of the Lamborghini Aventador, made from gold and platinum and encrusted with jewels, is being exhibited for the first time outside Europe by Lamborghini UAE.
The car itself can be yours for Dh26.75 million.
The model was built in Germany by Robert Wilhelm Gulpen – who has been creating luxury car models from solid precious metals for the past 12 years.
The plan is to auction the customised vehicle, but if a buyer wants to side-step the bidding process and buy it now, the maker will accept Dh26.75m as the price.
The vehicle is built on a carbon-fibre base which is then covered with gold. The headlights are encrusted with diamonds, and each seat will have 700 precious stones woven into the fabric.
The project will secure four entries into the Guinness Book of World Records, being the world’s most expensive model, the most secure showcase made from bulletproof glass, the most precious logo and the only car to be built from a 500kg block of solid gold.
Now the prototype of this super model is being presented to the world in the showrooms of Lamborghini in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and at the Dubai International Motor Show, before embarking on a world tour.
