A preliminary report over the death of Kamran Faisal, an officer of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigating the rental power projects (RPP) case, was submitted in the Islamabad Secretariat Police Station on Saturday.

Sources told DawnNews that the police had declared Faisal’s death as accidental and a First Information Report (FIR) was also registered.

Separately, some of Faisal’s relatives have alleged that his body bore marks of torture. His uncle has said that Faisal’s back, arms and wrists showed torture marks.

A special police team has also left for Faisal’s ancestral town to collect information from and record the statements of his family members and relatives.

Police is also reportedly looking for Sajid Ali, a close associate of Faisal, but has so far failed in getting in touch with him.

Faisal, 35, who was investigating the scam along with another officer Asghar Khan, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his official residence at Federal Lodges.

Faisal was reportedly investigating the scam under ‘pressure’ and had recently requested the Supreme Court to exclude him from the case. – dawn.com
