An anti-Ben Affleck petition has been filed on change.org by Batman fans dismayed that the actor will portray the caped crusader in upcoming movie Superman vs Batman.

Started by Kentucky resident John Roden, the petition claims Affleck is ‘not built or intimidating enough’ to play the superhero and doesn’t have the requisite acting skills for a convincing Bruce Wayne.

‘His acting skill is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won’t do the role justice,’ the petition reads.

‘He’s not built, nor is he intimidating enough for the role of Batman. His portrayal of Daredevil was atrocious and he’s not remotely close to an action star. Please find someone else.’

At the time of writing, the petition has attracted nearly 10,000 signiatures.

Affleck has proven a divisive choice for the role, due in part to his last superhero movie Daredevil being a a huge flop.

The part is something of a poisoned chalice given the popularity of Christian Bale’s Dark Knight version of the character, with Orlando Bloom, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling having previously been rumoured to be in the running for Batman.

Superman vs Batman is the sequel to Man of Steel and sees Henry Cavill returns as Superman. The film will be released in 2015.
