Several kookaburra birds paraded around in Santa Claus, Christmas tree, and zookeeper apparel for amusement park visitors in South Korea while animal rights activists were irritated by the event the nine penguins had to take part in.
Everland, which is in Yongin close to Seoul, made nine penguins walk around the park in Christmas-themed outfits and zookeeper clothes. Bosses said the bizarre stunt brought cheer to hundreds of visitors.
“It was a way to give people a merry Christmas,” one penguin trainer said. However, people for animal rights said the event was “cruel” and “inappropriate.” Associates of Everland insisted that the birds will keep on greeting visitors each and every day until the year comes to an end.
