Passports of Janet Napoles, brother cancelled—DFA

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has cancelled the passports of Janet Lim-Napoles and her brother Reynaldo Lim, a spokesman said.

“Yesterday [Friday] evening, DFA received a request from DOJ [Department f Justice] to cancel the passports of Janet Lim-Napoles and Reynald Lim because they are considered fugitives from justice,” Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez said in a text message Saturday.

“On that basis and pursuant to Sec. 8.b.1 of the Passport Law, DFA issued a circular to all Foreign Service Posts and Regional Consular Officess and notified also Bureau of Immigration on cancellation of their passports last night,” he said.

Napoles was issued a warrant of arrest by a Makati regional trial court previously and is the subject of manhunt operations by the National Bureau of Investigation.

Napoles, alleged mastermind in the P10 billion pork barrel scam involving several lawmakers and government executives, has since gone into hiding after the arrest orders were sent out.
