Dubai: Passengers going through Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 would no longer have to queue up at passport control, it was announced on Tuesday. In a bid to smoothen passenger movement through Dubai International, the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has announced plans to remove the immigration counters from the departures lounge of Terminal 3, the home of Emirates airline.

If this plan is implemented, passengers will no longer have to stand in line at passport control counters, allowing them to whisk through the terminal after checking in, like many airports in developed countries. Instead, travelers’ details will be sent in advance to the passport control officers via Emirates after tickets are booked.

Once the information has been sent, passengers will simply be able to walk through where once they had to stand in queue to have their documents verified.
