Writing a good job resume is not easy as you need to take care of a lot of things like design, content or type of information written, etc. Despite paying a lot of attention, students make a few mistakes that get their resume rejected. Read below to know some of the common mistakes that you must avoid while writing your resume:

Don’t hesitate from showing your achievements:

Most of the students try to be modest and hesitate from showing their achievements in their resume. They think that it will present them as an over-confident person. Well, this thinking is not right in today’s competitive environment. Know that your resume is your marketing document that you are using to sell your services. The more effective and competent it will be, the more your chances will be of acquiring the job. So, don’t hesitate from showing your achievements, but make sure you don’t fill the complete document with your achievements. Write about some of the major achievements that you think can change the recruiter’s mind and can present you as an eligible candidate for the job.

Don’t write too much information:

A resume is usually written to provide an overview of the qualification, experience, achievements and skills of an applicant to the recruiter. It needs to be short and sweet, but most of the students don’t understand this point and write a lot of information in their resume and as a result their resume gets rejected. So, do not write too much information in your resume. Write only the necessary and required details. Write your qualification, experience and achievements briefly in the form of bullet points. If you have a lot of things to write about your qualification and experience, then skip the details and just mention the important points. If you get a chance for an interview, then elaborate your hard work.

Do not include unnecessary things:

There are many things that are considered unnecessary by the recruiters, but applicants add them in their resume. For instance, applicants write that references will be provided on request. Well, if the recruiter wants you to provide a reference that you will need to give one. No recruiter presumes that you will not provide one.  So, there is no need to write this line. Similarly, writing the irrelevant personal interests that have nothing to do with the job is pointless. If you have interests that you think in some way can benefit your application, only then include them in your resume. Otherwise refrain from adding personal interest in your document.

Do not forget to proofread:

Know that a single mistake can lead your resume towards getting rejected from the recruiters. Be it a slight structural or spelling mistake, it can ruin the whole impression and can get your resume rejected. So, do not forget to proofread your resume after writing it and also before sending it to the recruiters. Check out for the writing and structural mistakes. Reread your resume for two to three times to make sure there is no mistake. Also keep the design simple.
