Now the artist has reached the heady-heights of number 1 on the U.K. singles chart (as predicted earlier by the BBC), knocking Swedish DJ Avicii’s Wake Me Up down to number two, according to the Belfast Telegraph. In doing so she has gone one step better than in the U.S., where the track peaked at number 2.
The song We Can’t Stop is taken from Cyrus’ soon to be released album Bangerz. The song was put together by a writing team: Mike Will Made It, Timothy Thomas, Theron Thomas, Douglas Davis and Ricky Walters, and it is in the style of ‘modern’ R&B. The song was, apparently, first written for Rihanna.
Going back to the U.K. chart, the top five singles are completed by French DJ Cedric Gervais’s house remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness at number four and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines FT TI and Pharrell Williams at number five.
