Microsoft China posts Windows 9 launch teaser
Earlier today, Microsoft China wrote a post on its Weibo page that not only confirms that the “Windows 9” name is intended for the next version of the company’s operating system but also that it will be “coming soon.”
The Verge reports how the post was quickly pulled but not before Chinese news site Cnbeta spotted and reported it. Apparently, Microsoft China is keen to start getting people talking about the next-generation Windows even though nothing official has been made public yet.
Perhaps it has something to do with how Windows 8 is currently banned in China as the government believes it poses a security risk, preferring the usage of the discontinued and ageing XP. Microsoft could be getting in on the act early to persuade China to open up to modern Windows… see more
