Most fashion trends aims to make the wearer stand out from the rest. Hair, make-up, clothing designs, and even nails are now pushing for bolder styles to separate the fashionistas from the rest. From the same country that brought the world the Lolita style and Zentai bodysuitscomes the fingernail art that lights up.
Called the LumiDecoNail, this new accessory uses a technology called Near Field Communication (NFC). This allows small amounts of power to be transferred in short distances and used in smartphones. The technology is then placed on a micro-thin LED sticker, which resembles gem-like stones placed on fingernails. People who don these stickers will be delighted to see them light up when they make a phone call on their Android smartphones, or even when they swipe electronic money cards used as train passes.
Developed by toy maker Takara Tomy A.R.T.S., company spokesperson Misayo Aruga said the launch price would be at 1,200 yen (about US$12) for a set of 16 nail stickers. They will be out on the market by next week, and are aimed at young people who like to try funky fashion to match their lifestyle.
