For some Gmail users, the latest feature to roll out for Google’s web-based email service has been a long time coming. Called block, it does what it says on the tin and lets you easily block messages from annoying or “disruptive,” as Google prefers to call them, senders.

Launching on Tuesday for Web and landing over the next few days for Android users, blocking a sender is a simple two-step process that redirects future incoming messages from blocked senders straight to your spam folder.

Along with block, the Web giant has also rolled out an unsubscribe button “so you’ll be able to opt out of eligible mailing lists directly from the Gmail app,” Googler Sri Harsha says in a blog post announcing the update, adding, “It’s perfect for those newsletters you subscribed to a while back but don’t read any more.”
