Fifa Under-17 World Cup preparations in full swing
Draw will be held August 26 to mark final phase of big event
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Fifa U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 has revamped all resources to accomplish the necessary works to host the big international event to be hosted in six UAE cities from October 17 to November 8, 2013.
With 106 days remaining, the vast majority of the required work has been completed as far as the venues and facilities are concerned, but few small things have to be attended which are expected to be finished during the upcoming few weeks ahead of the opening ceremony of the championship.
Last week, the tickets sale campaign was successfully launched at the Wafi Centre in Dubai, as an advanced stage in the road for the international juniors extravaganza. The draw will be held on August 26 and it marks the final phase of the preparations for the kick off of the competitions.
In the light of the abovementioned developments, the championship manager Mohammed Abdullah bin Badwa unveiled that he’s completely satisfied with what has been achieved so far while being confident that the work in progress in the Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Kalba venues including the dressing rooms and the improvement of lightings will be handed over on time. “The LOC members are working in great harmony and honestly to meet all the requirements of the FIFA and host the championship at the highest level of excellence,” he said.
“We have been always keen in the UAE to host international sports events to the satisfaction of everybody and in accordance withy the UAE standards of perfection which is not something new,” he added. Speaking about the sponsors and their contributions to the budget of the championship, Badwa said: “The Fifa U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 is a big event. Many leading companies have shown interest in taking part as sponsors and this is something good.
“The budget of the championship is financed through three main sources basically by the government support alongside the sponsors and the Fifa. I would like to avail this opportunity to thank on behalf of my colleagues in the LOC the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the unlimited support to sports and sportsmen in our young nation.
“I would like also to thank General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Honorary President of the UAE Football Association, for their kind patronage of sports and sportsmen in general and football in particular.”
