FACTORS AFFECTING ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Academic performance can be influenced by many factors which affect the Students academic achieve. Academic factors including teaching faculty, students schooling, father/guardian social economic status, residential area of students, medium of instructions in schools, tuition trend, daily study hour and many more. Many researchers have been conducted detailed studies about the factors affecting student performance at different study levels. There are some factors which are discussed below.

  • Lack of goals selection.

Students should have a power to decide their right goals according to their abilities. A significant goal is one that is consistent with your personal values. And a significant goal is one that will truly have an impact on your life directly in terms of your happiness, wellbeing, general life satisfaction, or any other aspects of your life that is important to you.

  • Motivation of parents

At secondary level students need maximum guidance, motivation and supervision to enhance their performance and to compete with their peers. Parent influence has strong effect on the educational alignment of students. In Pakistan some parents participate in the educational activities of their children which is the good sign to design their child future. Parent participation is highly correlated with the educational attainments of children. The parental influence has strong effect on educational attainments of the students and helps to shape their future of children.

  • Cultural factors impact on education

This category of factors describes the belifs, attitudes, values, opinions and life style of person as developed from cultural, religious and educational. Because Lots of studies have been conducted in the area of student’s achievement and these studies identify and analyze the number of factors that affect the academic performance of the student at school, college and even at university level.

  • Attention and concentration or Self efficacy:

It is a belief about whether one is capable of attaining a goal. It gives a basic sense that one has what it takes to do well. For example I might believe in capable of mathematics but not capable to playing musical instruments.

  • Family Income:

The measure problem is faced during academic period is family income. For those children whose parents have little income or education to facing lots of problem, such as when there is no money to purchase textbooks and other study materials needed to reach the peak of success. As in other places in the world where the topic is studied, it has been observed that students in socioeconomically deprived areas get lower marks as compared to well developed area residential students.
