Dubai’s Emirates Airline is in the “advanced stages” of talks to develop a new bedroom concept for premium passengers on its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, it has confirmed.
“It’s all about privacy. That’s very much in our current First Class private suites product, and our new bedroom concept will take it to the next level,” Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline, was quoted as saying by Abu Dhabi’s The National newspaper. “We’re talking fully enclosed rooms, with all the touches and amenities that you’d expect in hotel or a private bedroom on a luxury yacht, room service and so on. It will be on our A380s, and on our new 777s,” he added.

Emirates confirmed it is “in advanced stages of development” with airline interior designers for the new bedroom concepts, but it declined to reveal any details or timelines for the new designs.

The announcement comes just weeks after Abu Dhabi’s Etihad unveiled its new luxury living space which will be made available on its A380 aircraft and will include a living room, separate double bedroom and ensuite shower room and use of a personal butler trained by the Savoy Butler Academy in London.
Branded as The Residence by Etihad and set to be located on the upper deck of the Airbus superjumbo, the private cabins will accommodate up to two people and are described as “the world’s most luxurious living space in the air”.

The announcement is part of the newly unveiled luxury interiors on board Abu Dhabi’s fleet of A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The A380 will also feature the First Apartments, which are private suites with a separate reclining lounge seat and full-length bed, as well as a chilled mini-bar, personal vanity unit and wardrobe. The Abu Dhabi carrier has 10 A380s aircraft on order, with the first set to go into operation on December 27 this year.

Each Etihad A380 will contain two 125 square foot residences and nine First Apartments. The A380 residences will be targeted at private jet customers and will be priced from $20,000 each way between Abu Dhabi and London…. see more
