Only her hairdresser knows for sure.
But eager royal scribes could barely see the results tonight when she and Prince William attended the annual white-tie Diplomatic Reception atBuckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.
The palace did not announce it in advance and then declined to release pictures. Plus, she turned up wearing a diamond fan-motif tiara, formerly owned by the late Queen Mother, that covered up the top of her half-up, half-down hairstyle.
A hasty paparazzi snap of the couple leavingKensington Palace in a chauffeured Bentley showed only a glimpse of her cream lace bespoke gown by Alexander McQueen.
It was the first time she had donned a tiara in public since her wedding day in 2011. She wore stunning diamond drop earrings, too, according to tweets by royal reporters on the scene.
It also was the first time the couple had attended the annual Diplomatic Reception, when representatives of more than 170 foreign embassies in London are invited to mingle with the queen. Now that the couple are stepping up their schedule of royal duties, this is the sort of official event they will be doing more often.
Meanwhile, Katie Nicholl of the Mail on Sunday and and Rebecca English of the Daily Mail have been hot on the story of what the duchess did to banish those embarrassing gray strands that were showing in her part when she did an outdoor engagement last month.
As a busy new mom who’s also breastfeeding four-month-old Prince George, she didn’t have time to make it to the salon and has tried to avoid toxic chemicals. But she went to the Central London salon/spa of Rossano Ferretti and emerged six hours and $984 later with her hair cut, conditioned and colored, her gray gone, Nicholl reported.
Closeup views of the hair makeover may be better on Thursday night when she and William take to the red carpet for the premier of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.
